Medical Council of India, MCI has asked for details of 12,000 MBBS admissions from 97 colleges across the country to check compliance on the laid down procedures for MBBS admissions.
These 97 Medical Colleges have not submitted the details inspite of reminders issued by MCI.
As per an MCI sources Medical colleges admit students beyond their capacity or after the admission dates. If the details are not submitted on time, the candidates are the ultimate sufferer.
In 2017, a total of 65,000 seats across 460 colleges were filled by the counseling conducted by MCI. Last date of counseling was set at 31 August, 2017.
For the states of Haryana and Punjab, due to curfew conditions, Supreme Court had further provided an extension till 14 September 2017.
Many students in 2017 took MBBS admission abroad after failing to get MBBS admission in India.
