PERSONAL SUPPORT WORKER

An extremely important and integral part of Canada’s health care system is filled by the duties and responsibilities of the Personal Support Worker (PSW). Due to an increase in our aging population the demand for this career is on a rise in health-care settings and clients’ homes.

Students taking the Personal Support Worker courses and programs will acquire the necessary skills required to provide compassionate care to the elderly, the chronically ill and people with physical disabilities and learn to deal with their emotional and physical needs.

The program is accredited by the NACC, which is an organization recognized by all the medical facilities, to ensure national standards in the PSW field. After passing the NACC exam students are given a numbered certificate and a numbered pin. PSWs need this certificate if they wish to work in any medical facility.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School Graduate with Science background
  • Any of the following English Proficiency results:
  • A minimum TOEFL score of 550 (paper based) or 80 (internet based with no test below 20) – TOEFL code 9212,
    OR
  • Academic IELTS with an overall minimum score of 6.0 (with no single test score below 5.5).
