MBBS ADMISSIONS IN INDIA
In India, according to the information available on the website of Medical Council of India (MCI), there are a total of 542 Medical Colleges (including Government, Private & Deemed Universities).
These 542 Medical Colleges have a total of 77,178 MBBS seats and admissions to these Medical Colleges are through the merit list of NEET-UG (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test), conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA).
NEET is conducted every year on the 1st Sunday of the month of May.
In 2020, NEET is scheduled to be conducted on Sunday, 03 May 2020.
Test Centres will be located all over India.

From the year 2020, according to a notification issued on 4th October, 2019 by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India, NEET will also replace the following 2 Medical Entrance Exams:
AIIMS Entrance Exam – for admission into All India Institute of Medical Sciences
JIPMER Entrance Exam – Jawaharlal Institute of Post Graduate Medical Education & Research.

NEET – National Eligibility cum Entrance Test
NEET is conducted every year on the 1st Sunday of the month of May by the National Testing Agency.
The merit list of NEET is used for MBBS admissions in:
- All the Government Medical Colleges of India (including AIIMS & JIPMER)
- All Private Medical Colleges in India.
- All Deemed Universities.
- Armed Forces Medical College, Pune
For next year Admissions, NEET 2020 will be conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) on 03 May, 2020.
