Karnataka Common Entrance Test (KCET)
About Karnataka CET
The Karnataka Common Entrance Test is conducted for the purpose of determining the eligibility / merit, for admission of Karnataka candidates and the ward(s) of Jammu & Kashmir migrants to the 1st year full time courses for Government share of seats in Medical, Dental, Ayurveda, Homeopathy, Agriculture, Forestry etc. in the Government / University / Private Aided / Private Un-aided Professional Educational Institutions in the State of Karnataka.
This Common Entrance Test is conduct by the Karnataka Examinations Authority, Bengaluru.
Residents of Karnataka state have to appear in this exam and based on the merit list are eligible for admission to the MBBS Colleges in Karnataka some of which are:
1. Bangalore Medical College & Research Institute, Bangalore.
2. Government Medical College, Mysore.
3. Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, Belgaum.
4. Karnataka Institute of Medical Sciences, Hubli.
5. Vijaynagar Institute of Medical Sciences, Bellary.
among many others.
Three different papers will be conducted for Physics, chemistry & Biology each.
Each paper will have 60 questions and questions will be multiple choice type – 4 possible answers and the candidate has to select one.
Duration of each paper is 80 minutes.
There is no negative marking. Each correct answer is given 1 mark.
(a) Candidate should have completed 17 years of age as on 31st December of the year of his/her admission.
(b) Candidates must have studies Physics, Chemistry, Biology & English in Class 12th and should have an aggregate of over 50% in PCB.
In case of OBC/SC/ST category – minimum PCB percentage should be 50% and above.
(c) Candidate should be a permanent resident / domicile of Karnataka.
(d) Ward(s) of Jammu & Kashmir migrants are also eligible to appear.
The question paper of the Common Entrance Test is based on the First & Second PUC syllabi prescribed by the Department of Pre-University Education of the Karnataka State,
