Jammu & Kashmir Common Entrance Test for Medical & Engineering Programs (JKCET)


The Jammu & Kashmir Board of Professional Entrance Examinations conducts this exam for selecting students to the professional courses.

Admissions are given based on merit list in the examination in the following MBBS Colleges of Jammu & Kashmir:

1. Government Medical College, Srinagar.
2. Government Medical College, Jammu.
3. Sher-I-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences, Medical College, Bemina.
4. Acharya Shree Chandra College of Medical Sciences, Jammu.

Examination Pattern

There are 2 papers:

Paper 1 –

Physics & Chemistry
Duration 2 hours.
100 questions in each subject, i.e. total 200.

Paper 2 –


Duration 1 hour.
100 questions.

Exam is Multiple question type with 4 options from which the candidate has to choose the correct answer.

There is negative marking of 0.20 marks for every incorrect answer.

Eligibility Criteria

(a) Candidate should have completed 17 years of age as on 31st December of the year of his/her admission.

(b) Candidate must have scored minimum 50% in Physics, Chemistry, Biology & English (General & OBC Category).

For SC/ST & OPH minimum 40% is required for eligibility.

(c) Candidate must be a Permanent Resident of Jammu & Kashmir State as defined in Section 6 of the Constitution of J&K.
