Shandong University is a public comprehensive university in Shandong, China. It is one of the largest universities in China by student population and is supported directly by the national government. Shandong University ranked the 16th overall in all higher educational institutions of China. Shandong University provides one of the largest ranges of academic disciplines in China. Shandong University offers master and doctoral degree programs in all major academic disciplines covering the humanities, science and engineering, as well as medicine.
Present-day Shandong University is the result of multiple mergers as well as splits and restructurings that have involved more than a dozen academic institutions over time. In the year 2000, witnessed the merger of Shandong University with Shandong Medical University and Shandong University of Technology, resulting in the emergence of a new ,large scale Shandong University with enhanced strength and expanded academic disciplines.
The university currently has 4 affiliated hospitals, 3 non-subordinate affiliated hospitals and 11 teaching hospitals. It also has a teaching and administrative staff of 10,200 (including those at the Weihai Campus and the 3 affiliated hospitals included). Its full-time student population totals up to 60,000, of which 41,437 are undergraduates, 16,607 are postgraduates and 2,456 are international students.
MBBS program is taught in English and recognized by WHO. All lecturers and professors in this program are specially trained for international students.
